Motorola has contracted with the City of Rocklin since 2005. The current Motorola service contract expires on June 30, 2019. The contract provides basic service which includes repairs and maintenance to the radio system infrastructure, preventative maintenance, and local repair with onsite response 24/7.
In 2017, Motorola completed an overhaul in the Communications Center with the wiring, installation and programming of four (4) Dispatch Center MCC 7500 digital radio consoles. The new consoles are in compliance with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) digital P25 standards.
In 2018, Motorola wired, installed and programmed four (4) APX Consolette digital base stations in the radio room of the Police Department. The new base stations are in compliance with the FCC dual band and P25 standards. (The base stations are currently under the manufactures warranty including service until 2021).
Staff has negotiated a renewal service agreement with Motorola for the FY 2019-2020. The agreement continues coverage for the Police, Fire, and Public Works 2-way radio system infrastructure, preventative maintenance, and local repair with onsite response 24/7. In addition, services include maintenance for four (4) Dispatch Center MCC 7500 digital radio consoles, technical support, and subscriber repair for ninety (90) portable and fifty (50) mobile radios. All of these services include related software and firmware updates to meet the current Motorola specifications, this contract will continue to maintain these specifications.
This service contract through Motorola is specific to our radio system and the primary service/maintenance will be conducted by the radio technician who wired, installed, and programmed the four (4) Dispatch Center MCC 7500 digital radio consoles and the four (4) APX Consolette base stations.
