On March 24, 2020, Council adopted a Resolution declaring certain properties in the City of Rocklin a public nuisance, ordering abatement of the nuisance (weeds) by June 1, 2020, and setting a public hearing for May 12, 2020. To complete the weed and rubbish abatement process, the City is required to hold the public hearing to hear objections from any landowners whose property has been declared a nuisance. As required by statute, notices were sent to the owners of the properties declared a nuisance, via certified letters mailed on April 01, 2020. After hearing the objections, if any, the Council shall allow or overrule any objections. At that time, the Council acquires jurisdiction to proceed and perform the work of removal, and by approving the attached resolution makes the order to proceed with abatement.
Approximately 900 vacant parcels in the City of Rocklin require weed abatement. The abatement contractor will inspect each property prior to any abatement work; and, if found to be in compliance with the City Standards for Maintenance of Vacant Parcels, no work will be performed by the City contractor.
