At the December 14, 2021 City Council meeting, Councilmember Gayaldo requested that an item be added to a future City Council agenda to discuss providing incentives for Rocklin property owners to install drought-tolerant landscaping.
The City of Rocklin has developed residential landscape templates that are meant to provide guidance for submitting residential landscape plans for new construction in compliance with the State of California's Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance, which went into effect on December 1, 2015. Additionally, staff created an “Ordinance Applicability & Submittal Guidelines” document (Exhibit 1), which is available on the City’s website.
No incentives are currently provided by the City; however, all properties in Rocklin are part of the Placer County Water Agency (PCWA), which does provide Lawn Replacement and Irrigation Efficiency rebates. A Frequently Asked Questions document is available on PCWA’s website, and is attached as Exhibit 2.
