Staff Recommendation:

Adopt a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Rocklin Accepting the Public Work Known as the Mission Hills Phase 3 Road Reconstruction Project, Approving the Notice of Completion Thereof, and Authorizing and Directing the Execution and Recordation of Said Notice on Behalf of the City (McGuire and Hester)

BACKGROUND:

On February 22, 2022, Resolution No. 2022-46 Mission Hills Road Reconstruction Phase 3, was approved by the City Council, and was included in both the 2022-2026 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021/22 budget. This project consists of removing and replacing existing asphalt concrete surfacing and underlying base material on Mountain View Drive, Roble Way, Verano Way, Hillside Drive, and Argonaut Avenue.

This project was advertised and subsequently awarded to McGuire and Hester. In addition, the City entered into reimbursement agreements with South Placer Municipal Utility District (SPMUD) in the amount of $32,800 and Placer County Water Agency (PCWA) in the amount of $16,400. Two additional water valves were identified which increased PCWA’s cost by $1,200, from the total of $16,400 to $17,600. Construction costs for SPMUD came in on budget and no additional charges incurred.  One (1) balancing change order was issued for the amount of $2,470, bringing the total project cost to $848,752. Once the SPMUD and PCWA costs are deducted the City’s portion is $798,352 (rounded), which is under the budgeted amount of $973,200. The project was completed on June 13, 2022.

Fiscal Impact:

The City’s portion of the project came in under budget and was funded using SB1 Funds (205).
