On August 17, 2022, the Community Recognition Commission (CRC) met and reviewed the nominations submitted to be engraved on the Wall of Recognition in 2022. The CRC recommends two nominees:
Club Español
Club Español was a local cultural organization and nonprofit founded by immigrants from Spain who settled in the area in the 1910s and their descendants. Throughout its years, the club has made various contributions to the City, including donating funds to local organizations, sponsoring scholarships, partnering with the Rocklin Historical Society, and preserving the history of Spanish immigrants in Rocklin. The club was in existence from 1981 to 2018, and many of its members were influential Rocklin public figures.
Bring Our Kids Home
“Bring Our Kids Home” was the slogan of the proponents of Measure A, which was passed by voters in 1986 and turned the Rocklin Unified School District into a K-12 district. This effort was led by committee co-chairs Margie (Gordenier) Lehman and Louise Cullen. The success of Measure A was due, in large part, to the advocacy efforts of the “Bring Our Kids Home” group, and the result is that Rocklin high school students can attend school in Rocklin instead of attending school in Roseville or Loomis.
