Staff Recommendation:

Adopt a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Rocklin Approving an Amendment to the City Manager Employment Agreement with Alexandra Zimmermann.

Pursuant to Government Code section 54953(c)(3), prior to taking final action, the Council shall orally report the following:

The amendment will increase the City Manager’s current annual salary by five (5) percent, for a total annual salary of $252,000 and extend the contract term to November 30, 2027. The annual salary of the City Manager shall never be less than the maximum annual salary of any other City employee.

BACKGROUND:

On October 13, 2020, the City Council approved the City Manager Employment Agreement with Alexandra Zimmermann (Resolution No. 2020-200). The agreement had a term that expires on November 30, 2023 and does not provide for any automatic salary increases. Instead, the City Council must approve a salary increase.

Following a performance evaluation of the City Manager on June 28, 2022, the City Council provided direction to move forward with a five (5) percent increase to the City Manager salary. In addition, the City Council provided direction to extend the term of employment to November 30, 2027 and to include wording that the annual salary of the City Manager shall never be less than the maximum annual salary of any other City employee.

Environmental Analysis:

Fiscal Impact:
The annual cost to adjust the current City Manager salary is $12,000, with a total compensation increase of approximately $16,700.
