Staff Recommendation:

It is recommended that the City Council of the City of Rocklin adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 2 to the Professional Services Agreement with Craig Miers + George Scott Architects for the Adventure Park Services Building Design.
BACKGROUND:

On June 27, 2017, the City Council approved the FY 2017-2018 budget along with Resolution No. 2017-150 which approved the 2017-2021 Capital Investment Plan.  Included in the plan was the construction of an “Adventure Park” destination venue which will create an economic engine drawing citizens to the City’s downtown area. On July 12 2017, staff entered into a Professional Services Agreement (PSA) with Craig Miers + George Scott Architects to provide design development, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration for the Guest Services Facility in the amount of $40,975.

As the project progressed the design was updated to include enclosing the main structure and including independent structures underneath it. This change resulted in Amendment No. 1 which was approved by the City Council on September 26, 2017, (Reso. 2017-213) for an additional $29,980, bringing the total not to exceed amount to $70,955.

At this time the decision has been made not to enclose the main structure and not to install independent structures underneath it.  This affects the construction documents which will need to be updated to reflect the changes at a cost of $10,780 plus a 15% contingency of $1,617 for a total of $12,397.  This brings the not to exceed amount to Eighty- Three Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty-Two Dollars ($83,352).

Fiscal Impact:

This work will be funded using the Facilities Impact Fee (308) and is within the existing FY 18-19 budget.
